He was a graduate of Norwalk High School and a Norwalk resident all of his life where he worked for almost 50 years as an oysterman for Tallmadge Brothers and Hillard Bloom Shellfish. Hillard was born in Norwalk on June14, 1957 to the late Hillard Bloom, Sr. Hillard Brian Bloom, 65, beloved husband of Deborah West Bloom of Norwalk, died July 20, 2022. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Dementia Society (Save the Sound (Norwalk, Connecticut Funeral services and interment will be private. Hillard’s family will receive friends at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave., Norwalk on Monday, July 25 from 4-8 PM. He will forever be remembered for his love of animals and the sea, and for being a man who would help others freely. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren Brayden, Cody, Cassidy, Landon and Hunter. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Deborah West Bloom, and their three sons Hillard Bloom, Jr and his wife Alison of Ridgefield, Justin Bloom and his wife Katie of Monroe, Chris Bloom of Norwalk, and his sisters Leslie Miklovich and Penny Bloom of Norwalk, as well as several nieces and nephews. For his contributions, hard work, and dedication to the shellfishing industry and his long time family business, Hillard will forever be known as a legend in the oyster industry.
